Think about a situation you need to surrender to. What would it be like if you could do this? How would it – and you – be different? How would that feel? Spend two minutes contemplating living your life without worrying about the outcome of any of your dilemmas or anxiety-making scenarios.
Exercise: dig deep into control
Write down all the things you’re trying to control. Now ask yourself these questions. Are there any particular areas or aspects of your life that you always try to control? Are there ways that controlling serves a purpose for you? And in what ways does it impact you negatively? How would a good friend ‘answer back’ to your worries? What advice or reassurance would they give you?
